The Lindisfarne Gospels:
Festival of the North East
During June and July 2013 we at Gosforth St. Nicholas, are joining in with the region wide Festival of the North East.
The Festival of the North East celebrates the Lindisfarne Gospels (almost!) being home in Durham and also celebrates our region's traditions, arts and industrial heritage and our lively contemporary culture.
During June and July there will be a number of exhibitions on display in church. These will include banners celebrating our Northern Saints (see "St.Nicholas Banner Group") as well as displays from several of the schools in our parish.
We will try to have the church open every Saturday between 3-5 p.m.as well as at the usual daily service times. We can arrange other times if you ring the Vicar (0191 285 1326). He is also happy to arrange a time for groups to have a guided tour of the church.
On Friday 7 June, 7 p.m. the vicar will open our Church Festival with a talk : “Too cold to hold a pen? – the spirituality of the Northern Saints”. There will be refreshments and an opportunity to look around the church. Admission free.
On Saturday 29th June at 2 p.m. there is an informal children’s concert in church; again, admission is free.
